Columbus, Ohio / New Albany, Ohio Wedding + Engagement Photographer || Jen & Tom’s Surprise Wedding!

I got an email from Jen’s daughter, Taylor, about some big plan this family had! She mentioned that the family was holding a 1st birthday and graduation party together. Not only that, but Taylor’s mom wanted to make it official and get married at the party! The family agreed they really wanted this to happen. Friend and family gathered and the decision was to get married in the neighborhood park. I was so on board for this. It just sounds like something my family and I would do and I really wanted to document this for them, so of course I said, “I’ll be there!”

When I arrived, the troops were gathered and we all walked down to the park together. The chatter among the family was so sweet to hear. I loved the excitement and happiness in the tone and words. There was such a genuine feeling of love and happiness here. Sometimes the weddings we work can, at time, be overwhelmed with so many details. When you see a family like this, you start to see those details are a little silly to get so worked up over. The people who came together to celebrate this family genuinely wanted nothing other than to see their happiness. That was refreshing.

Jen and Tom were married by Jen’s son. He made sure to include quotes from ‘The Princess Bride’ and keep the proceedings light and fun! When they pronounced husband and wife, Jen and Tom literally skipped out of there! It was so sweet!

I’m thankful I got to be apart of this family’s special day with all the reasons to celebrate! It was so nice to get to see so much joy all in one place!
